Belgian malinois border collie mix

June 1, 2024

The Border Collie is known to be the most intelligent dog, being lovely and gentle. The Belgian Malinois is in police work, military work, search and rescue due to its strengths, agility, and capability of learning fast. The question is, what is the mixed result of those two fantastic dog breeds?

Appearance

The body structure is similar to the Belgian Malinois, where the height is higher than the Border Collie and more comparable to Melenois. Weight is also related to the Malinois. The distance between the head and the body is longer like we see in the Malinois. Different from the Border where the head is much closer to the body.

The Border is certainly present when you look at the colors and the shiny fur. It is visible in the mix dog, the similarity in the dog fur when compare with the Border Collie. Which does not have a lot of dog fur in the head, but it is highly present from the neck below. It is also much longer when compared with the Malenios, where is much shorter. The difference in the dog fur is also evident in the tail, where it is much more present.

Here is a video with the dog breed mix spending his energy and learning a few tricks.

Temperament

As a puppy, he is full of energy capable of playing for hours. Require a lot of exercises to be in shape. Very active, rather than go to bed early, he prefers to spend the energy. With health above the average, his overall lifespan is about 12 to 14 years.

His personality is of an Alpha dog being dominant, going after anything smaller than him in the backyard. The Belgian Malinois is known for being loyal, a quality visible in the mix with the Border Collie that makes him a very protective dog, always watching for his owner, also good with children. Although, let him alone with children without supervision is not a good idea. He does not go along very well with strangers but is good with other dogs. The breed always has attention to what is happening around him with that very energic look in his eyes.

The Border Collies is famously known as one of the most intelligent dogs. With the proper training, they achieve their full potential. The Belgian Malinois is also pretty much intelligent. The mixed results are spot after one year or one and a half, so anyone can see how actual smart he is. After this time, he becomes very responsive to commands where only a few repetitions are enough to teach him a new trick. And remember, this breed is highly active and intelligent, which required a lot of training and exercise.

Training and Exercise

When the years go by, he becomes less of a trouble maker inside the house, so the owner does not need to worry about the furniture be destroyed. Well, at least not so much as before. Another reason why consistent training is so demanding to this breed. The mix between Belgian Malinois and border Collie is not a dog for an owner who does not have time or is not willing to dedicate time and effort to make this breed healthier and more obedient.

The breed has the stretches, the intelligence, the loyalty, and the protective side of the Belgian Malinois. From the Border Collie, he gets the lovely side of the family, and more intelligence, more energy. As the final result, there is a fascinating breed, waiting for the owner willing to get in shape with him. This boy is full of energy and will need a lot of exercises.
